Humboldt State University Natural History Museum, which has managed to secure enough grant and donor funding to reopen to the public, after having to close a year ago in response to budget cuts by HSU. You can read more about this in an article from last Thursday's Arcata Eye. Those of us in university museums would do well to note the comments of HSU Provost Robert Snyder. Praising Humboldt State Professor Jeffrey White and his team, Snyder noted that they derserved special thanks “not only for the fresh grant funding they secured, but also for reinforcing the Museum’s crucial links to our academic programs in math and science." Now more than ever, we need to stay relevant to our parent institutions' mission and keep banging out those grant applications.
