Prerogative of Harlots is a blog about museums and museum collections, with an occasional seasoning of paleontology and a lot of really ill-informed musings.

No, I'm Not Dead...
... and neither have I been Raptured. I've taken up gardening and it's planting season. What can I say? 250 Pachysandra can play hell with your typing skills.
Rudyard Kipling said that power without responsibility is the prerogative of harlots. Some cynics say that it is also the prerogative of museum curators. I am not one of those cynics, as the last 15 years of working either as a museum curator or with museum curators has left me with nothing but respect for... oh, who I am trying to kid? Anyway, after time spent managing natural history collections in Oxford and New York, I now look after the vertebrate paleontology collections for a large university museum. One thing to understand about me is that while I like fossils, I don't actually *love* fossils. This is an important distinction. If you love fossils, you probably need to go get some help. Seriously.
Never apologize for gardening. -G
