- Rudyard Kipling said that power without responsibility is the prerogative of harlots. Some cynics say that it is also the prerogative of museum curators. I am not one of those cynics, as the last 15 years of working either as a museum curator or with museum curators has left me with nothing but respect for... oh, who I am trying to kid? Anyway, after time spent managing natural history collections in Oxford and New York, I now look after the vertebrate paleontology collections for a large university museum. One thing to understand about me is that while I like fossils, I don't actually *love* fossils. This is an important distinction. If you love fossils, you probably need to go get some help. Seriously.
