How to Protect Your Collections

I guess this story might be retitled "Museum President announces that putting fossils in a box is better than leaving them lying around outside." To which I would respond, building a proper storage area for your museum is better than relying on modified shipping containers to preserve your specimens for "generations to come." For a better consideration of some of the issues regarding storing museum artifacts, take a look at this NY Times article. Of course, natural history collections have been in the forefront of developing alternative methods of climate control for years. Mostly because no-one wants to pay for expensive HVAC systems to protect our stuff...
